I haven't said anything about my impression on Fullmetal Alchemist movie, have I?

Okay, yep, I have to admit that I did make a Netflix account solely for watching FMA movie. There are tons of other shows I watched there too, I just finished Stranger Things for example, marathoning Merlin, Noragami, Rurouni Kenshin (I didn't notice it before, the frame is exactly square hahaha ^^;; but I guess because I watched it on smaller screen before so it's strange when I watch it now with wider screen), and then there's a bunch of animes and stuff as well as FMA anime to refresh... hey I'm off the tracks! FMA FMA.

Okay. So the movie. It's a good entrance for those who aren't familiar with FMA. What's important for me is that Arakawa-sensei okayed it, so I am going to ignore all the haters. They don't get to decide for me.

Everyone is spot on, I think. It's the compressed storyline and the pace that bugs me just a little bit. Winry is around more so we can see more EdWin interactions, Ed aren't called chibi enough (and not enough of him losing it hmm...) there's shortlived sadness about Hughes's death unlike the manga and anime, and Nina is cute! Who is this little actress? I am actually anticipating the scenes with Hornunculi, and as always I'm partial to Al... sorry Ed.

My favourite scene would be the Ed/Al fight, remembering Yamada saying he literally fought air there. Yamada, you've worked hard ne~ :D as for Winry, there is a feeling of trying too hard?  But maybe that's just my feeling, after all it's adapted from manga which definitely have over the top actions and reactions and fictional stuff. Yeah I don't have a lot of vocabulary so sue me. I wanted more Roy and Riza (Riza's my second favourite after Al haha sorry Ed, again. But you're number three okay?) but I understand it's a two hour movie and the FMA world is so large with so many characters that it's impossible to include them all.

I am a bit bummed I can't see it in cinemas. I was prepared to pay for a 4DX ticket you know! Except in Malaysia, when I try to find cinemas that can support it, there is only one? For real? Hmm... okay never mind. I have watched it and I can cross it off my list, and it's good enough for me.

Well... it's alright I guess. What can I say? There will always be that feeling of wanting to compare it to other medium. Man, I envy them who haven't seen any FMA before, they'll be able to watch it fresh without comparing it to the anime and manga. To each their own, I suppose.

So I'm also Yamada's fan, and that made two reasons for me to watch FMA... hey it's three! Alphonse! If there are others who say that I'm biased because of Yamada, well I say I don't care. I'm the one who is watching, for myself, so what's wrong with a little biasness? And I'm not even someone important like a pro anime reviewer who has to be perfectly unbiased in their reviews. So I'll be the one to say for myself whether I am satisfied with it or not. And I'm saying that I'm satisfied with it. I'm not forcing my opinion on others. You think what you like and I'll think what I like. This will be better for my sanity ;)

Another thing. The music. As always, music is important to me. It will bring memories of certain scenes to me and the feelings inside the scenes. The soundtrack, I want it...

Overall, thank you for the whole team that brought Fullmetal Alchemist to life, you are all amazing, wonderful people. Thank you so much!

So my rating? Netflix thumbs up, and my own score: 9.3/10.

So, live actions. I heard it's Bleach next. If I get the chance I'd watch that as well, see how it is before passing judgement. Besides, it's Fukushi Sota! I'd say he's freakishly tall only because I'm short compared to him but then I have seen people taller than him so I can't say that anymore, and his height is not relevant to Bleach anyway what the heck am I saying yeesh. Oh oh, and also Bleach has ended, right? So we'll hopefully have proper ending instead of being canon-divergent that happened when a series hasn't finished but people want to make animes/movies out of it so then we will get hypothetical endings and parallel worlds. Pfft.

If the west want to try making FMA live action or answering to those people who insisted on "true" western ancestry actors for the characters, try all you want, but I still stand by what I said before. No friggin' way I would even watch it (well.... I might consider it IF Arakawa-sensei says something). If it's originally from Japan I want it in Japanese. The west has a ton of their own stories, please do those instead. FMA isn't even set in this world, it's a fictional one. So it's fine being in Japanese, right?

And I think, well, it's just my own opinion, but Yamada looks a little like he is mixed, doesn't he? He said he's pure Japanese though so I'll believe him.

Well, that's all from me. I'm gonna go watch it a few more times to maximise my free month, then, well, I'll have a decision to make.
